NZ accommodation summary

Here is a summary of my NZ accomodations.

There are many choices when comes to NZ accommodation. Listed is a few type that I am aware of:

1. Backpacker Hostel
BBH and YHA are the famous backpacker hostel chains. If you are on a very tight budget, you can go for dorm which you will share room with strangers and if you have more to spare, you can go for the more expensive double room with ensuite bathroom. Backpacker guests share common area and kitchen facilities.

2. Holiday Park
If you have rented a campervan, then you can either go to Top10 Holiday Park or Holiday Park. With a small tariff per head, you get powered connection for your campervan and you are allowed to use communal park facilities such as kitchen, showers/toilets and laundry. Do note that some park charge separately for showers and laundry. Besides that, they also have other type of accommodation for non-campervan travellers.

3. Motel
Motels are very common in New Zealand, prices vary. Some of the motels are managed by couple/family, thus they only have very little unit to offer. In NZ, I prefer motel than hotel because while the price is cheaper, I don't sacrifice on quality.

4. Bed and Breakfast/Farmstay
If you would like to experience everyday Kiwi family or farming lifestyle first-hand, farm stays or home stays with breakfast provided(some with optional dinner too) is a great option. Kiwi home stays with farm is generally more expensive than those without farm. But then you won't regret, it gives you the opportunity to taste life on a genuine New Zealand working farm.

5. Hotel
I guess there is no explanation needed here. But in my humble opinion, I feel that there are so many other accommodation experiences that I would love to try out than a boring hotel stay. But if you want a safe choice, there are plenty of hotel choices in New Zealand.

Good luck in NZ accommodation searching!
