Apex Car Rental New Zealand

Since not many car rental providers allow different pick up and drop off locations for such a short rental period(12 days for my case), so we ended up getting a car from Apex Car Rental(view website). Another reason we picked Apex because they were giving free Interislander ferry ticket for the vehicle(priced at NZ$189) as long as we booked the passenger ticket(NZ$69 per adult) with them.

For a stress free driving experience in NZ, we paid NZ$12 per day for full coverage insurance. Look at the damage cost listed in the picture above and you would agree with me. With full coverage insurance purchase, the process for returning car was speedy as they did not have to do thorough inspection on the vehicle.

The Toyota Corolla, ~5 years old but still in tiptop condition, that had accompanied us for 12 days. Rental was NZ$65 per day.

We almost need to fill the tank everyday as the distance from one city to another is very far.

I am not going to blog about other car rental service provider as I have not use them before. But if you want, you can just do a simple google and compare.

Mileage and Fuel
We had the "return with full tank" option with Apex, which mean we picked up a full tank car and returned with full tank. Listed is the distance we traveled each day and the expenses for fuel. For the destinations, please refer to previous post.
