HK: A relaxing morning in Sham Shui Po

Some previews of the day.

In the morning, we went to Sham Shui Po(深水埗) and had breakfasts there. Then, we visited Wong Tai Sin(黄大仙). Lunch was at Sha Tin(沙田). While in Sha Tin, we also shopped at New Town Plaza. Then, we went to Tsim Sha Tsui(尖沙咀) at late evening for the Avenue of Stars and Symphony of Lights. Dinner was at Jordan(太子). 5 Different MTR stations in a day excluding Mong Kok where we were staying. A lot huh?

So it started with Sham Shui Po and I had 4 places in list for breakfast.

1) Wai Kee Noodle Cafe 維記咖啡粉麵
G/F 62-66 Fuk Win St, Sham Shui Po 深水埗福榮街62號及66號地下

4) Hup Tai Yik 合益泰小食

6.30am-8.30pm

We did a quick check on the MTR map and found that all the 4 places were quite nearby. So, we decided to keep the map and enter which ever we pass by first.

Exiting from the MTR Station, it was a street with a lot of computer shops.

Then, we saw Wai Kee Noodles Cafe. Time for breakfast. :)

It was iced milk tea again. In Malaysia, normally we will order drinks when we eat outside. But drinks were rather expensive in Hong Kong. I noticed that not all the tables will order drink. And it was okay. No minimum charge like some of the cafes in Malaysia.

Deng, deng, deng, deng. I ordered their signature dish, Pork Liver and Beef Bihun Soup(潤牛米) at HK$23. In Malaysia, pork liver is normally an unwanted part. I didn't know that it could be the main ingredient in a bowl of noodles. The pork liver did surprise me. It was cooked to perfection, not overcooked and did not have any weird taste.

Look at the restaurant. It was more spacious and less congested compare to Mong Kok's or Central's. No one will be standing by your table and waiting for you to finish your meal.

Then we took a move to Kung Wo Dou Bun Chong(公和豆品厂) for some desserts.

The shop looked very tradisional. They spoke slightly different cantonese language and they played cantonese opera song in the shop. A very unique experience I had in Hong Kong.

We have no luck to try the stuffed taufu as it was only available after 11am. So, we only tried their soya bean milk and Tau Fu Fah. The soya bean milk was nice but for the Tau Fu Fah, Ipoh Funny Mountain was still better.

Coming out from Kung Wo Dou Bun Chong, we saw Kwan Kee Store(坤记糕饼专家) sign. It had a big sign board.

Kwan Kee and the delicious steam cake.

red bean cake(红豆糕)

Direct translated from Cantonese is White Sugar Cake(白糖糕).

Black sesame cake(芝麻糕).

The cakes were cut into very big pieces. It was HK$16.50 for three.

We didn't try Hup Tai Yik(合益泰小食) as we were already full. Perhaps you can try it and tell me if it is good.
